It's that time of year for portrait photographers across America whom are furiously working to meet their Christmas deadlines.  Thankfully T. in Portland has been gracious while I have been editing and getting these images ready to finally post. 

Another of the Portland Urban Safari sessions, it was slightly daunting to scout and create portraits in a completely new environment, but once I honed in on a spot,I felt like I was right at home. We discovered these wonderful city backdrops and caught a glowing reflective building light from the setting sun.

Thanks again T., your family was wonderful.  Next time we've all got to go to get some of those  voodoo donuts to reward everyone !!!

Sweet Child O' Mine {Seattle Newborn Portrait Artist}

We had a fantastic newborn session recently with this little doll. Their caring friends purchased a gift certificate for this Seattle newborn photography session. D was just shy of two weeks (the best time to come in for a newborn session.)  He slept most of the time and just loved having Mommy and Daddy hold and cuddle him.  Black and white is very classic for these looks and timeless.  Thanks A. for finding me.

Portland Family Portraits: the Urban Session { Heather Quintans Photography}

Portland proved perfect.  A few weeks ago we had a special trip to the great city for a few family portrait sessions. (I love traveling on location and will be having ore excursions this summer, keep posted.)   We had perfect weather, great families, and a wonderful urban backdrop for the weekend excursion.  Thanks to big D, my longtime client and friend who scouted out some great scapes. Add to that our little muse little D.. (if she looks familiar look up above)  for some cute and spunky portraits and we just had a great day....check back for round two later this week from the Portland Portrait session.  Thanks D and T (for your scouting and assisting and of course for being great parents.)

 

They Keep You Running | Seattle Family Photographer

 I'm no stranger to high energy boys as the mom of two myself.  So when I met the S's I knew we'd have a great time. The secret:  constant entertainment.  They were ready for action and Mom and Dad had the insight to help guide me when to turn it on and when to pull back.  With the great fall colors, sweet morning lighting, we came out with some winner  images.  Thanks ya'll.

 

Use Petroleum Jelly To Keep Your Pumpkins Fresher, Longer---

So you found the perfect design to adorn your soon to be jack-o-lantern, but as soon as you take the first plunge with your knife, your pumpkin starts to loose precious moisture. Keep it from rotting before this weekend with petroleum jelly.

Yet another use for Petroleum Jelly, almost as many as my other favorite duct tape.....maybe this year our pumpkins won't shrivel to shrunken heads on our frontstep.

It's All About the Light | Natural Child Portraits Seattle

I don't remember much of my first photography's professor diatribe (he was kind of a photo snob) but I did learn one very important element: it is all about the light.  During this incredible and truly enjoyable family session with the M's, that one singular element elevated a great session to a fantastic one.  We just hit the park at the perfect time for late afternoon light that filtered beautifully through the tall evergreens.  It created sparkling eyes and gorgeous backlighting.   Add to the shimmering light, a handsome threesome, a bubbly little sweetie and personalities ready to have fun and you have an outstanding Seattle family portrait session. We had a ball with the S. family a couple weeks ago, during their Seattle "urban portrait session". Goddess Momma | Seattle Portrait Artist

This beautiful mother's home lent itself perfectly to this vision of goddess mother.  Not to be outdone, her older son G. added a lot of spunk to a classic image, what a great twist.   We can't wait to meet the other G. soon.  Thanks J and M.

 

 

My Favorite Gifts | Seattle Child Portrait Artist

Put aside the fame and fortune...ahemmm....gifts like these make my job all worth it !!  ....Devin has been one of my most favorite little ones for a very long time.....I've photographed her every year since she was 3 mths old and now she's 8 !!!   She created this portrait of us last week during out Portland trip  (blog post coming soon).  That's me on the left photographing her by a sculpture....she even added that sunshine for backlighting !!!  Love it, (big high kick in the air).
