What a beautiful baby and family. I asked the story of their red threaded bracelets. Mom explained as a wedding tradition they both weaved these bracelets on themselves, and amazingly their wedding took place three years ago.
Little did I know how nice they would complement this beautiful portrait with their son.

I feel so lucky to have worked with the stellar D. and her fabuous family for the past ten years !! It's never a struggle to create a different look annually as we collaborate on the creative process. We're also all on board when it comes to "playing" throughout the session. With Mom's stylin, Dad's playful attitude and the vivaciousness of D., most of my work is done before I even click the shutter.....

I was so excited to capture some of B.'s senior Seattle photography portraits. B has been assisting me for the past few years and is a great asset to my team. Although she says she is more comfortable behind the camera, as you can see from these images she thoroughly enjoyed playing in front for these smashing images.
We had such a great time creating these with the help of her sister in a variety of locations in North Seattle and the beachfront in Edmonds and Mukilteo. I enjoy being able to work in the studio for lighting control and find locations really provide a fantastic variety of backdrops to enhance the portraits of a senior.

We had a great time catching up and creating these maternity portraits at the Seattle SODO studio. I have known her family since photographing her and C. for their wedding over 8 years ago and subsequently their older son's first portraits. They are the sweetest couple and they both have an ease that makes you feel instantly relaxed when you are around them...(Being a naturopath is a true calling for S. as you can see how well she embodies this calling. ) Best wishes to your family S. Is it officially spring? If yesterday was any indication with this wonderful Seattle family portrait, I think we're finally off to a great start.
A bittersweet portrait session for me as these friends and clients that I have worked with the past three years are moving out of state. Their lively and natural instincts bode well on this sunstruck day and we created some gorgeous portaits with the beautiful soft glow of filtered dusk light.

Loveys, snuggies, security blankets: whatever their moniker, these soft cuddlers provide security and comfort for your little one. They work surreptioutsly to watch over them at night, or travel to distant lands to assist your sweetie to adjust to a new environment. I love little personalizations like these because they show more of the character and sweetness of your child. I highly encourage you to bring a toy or another comfort item to any session. Whether the lovey shares the limelight or is present to "encourage" your little one, they will have done their job when we see results like this one of your child's loving expression.

Seattle Child Photograph- Creating the Moment
Watching seniors mature and come into their own should reflect in their senior portrait. This is the portrait that shows you the man or woman they are and are to become. One of my important tasks in advance of the session is to ask them how they want to be portrayed, I really want an authentic portrait. K, is a quiet, intelligent senior just about to embark on his college days. I dig that he loves music, and his Mac (yeah) and most importantly his family. Best wishes K.

One of the first questions during our consultation meeting is to establish preference to color or black and white images. Even though many are partial to the classic timeless look of black and white, when you have a family of redheads, the choice is clear. (My dear friend and client Pam and I have an annual running joke with this question as her redhead family portraits just sing with color.)
I love working with this wonderful strawberry blonde/red head Seattle family these past few years. Mom is always organized and ready to go with great ideas...I can't wait to meet their new-newborn this spring.....hopefully another redhead.
I can finally breathe a sigh or relief for a monment, just sent my family's Christmas card to print....I know only a week away. My Boston contingent may be seeing it in 2011.
I am always holding off posting family portraits this time of the year as I don't want to spoil any surprises, but I think we are safe with this one.
