I'm well aquainted with this view. I've been looking down here a lot lately. As a Mom of a 7 year old, whose son's 6 & 7 year old peer group recently traded their velcro straps for "big boy" shoes, I found the knotting frequency suddenly multiplied. I've not only been instructing my son in the art of tying laces but also have been fulfilling this duty for many other small beings orbiting our tiny world. I've tied dozens of errant laces on the soccer field, doubleknotted countless sneakers at the playground, and completed many a re-tie of diametrically opposed laces on classmates.
I certainly don't mind these brief respites with these little guys and gals. As with many other transitions, I know this time won't last long and another milestone will soon be passed. I'll take just a bit longer when looping these laces and look up and appreciate those sweet faces a little while longer. For the short time it will last I think that new view will be refreshing.
